Claims Assistant / Entry Level - Florida Workers' Compensation

As a Workers' Compensation Claims Assistant on our team at PGCS, you will be responsible for assisting claims adjusters with the set up and administration of workers' compensation claims by performing specific administrative duties related to the claims handling process.
This is an office position:
Lake Mary, FL location.
What You'll Be Doing:
Providing administrative/clerical assistance to workers' compensation claims adjusters.
Proactively identifying and completing the daily tasks related to the handling of Workers' Compensation claims, including scheduling medical appointments, obtaining records and work status from provider/client, handling correspondences on behalf of the claims adjusting.
Documenting notes in system file and tracking with computerized system.
Copying, scanning and organizing documentation as necessary.
Identify issues that will require the claims specialist's attention.
Issuing payments per policy.
Reviewing paper files for proper content paying attention to legal aspects; submit to attorneys as directed.
Communicating directly with employers, injured workers and providers to obtain information to complete assignments.
Developing an understanding of the claims process, including the importance of separation of file documentation for legal purposes - defense attorney vs opposing attorney.
Performing other duties as needed.
What You'll Need:
High School Diploma Good typing and computer skills; 40
WPM A minimum of one year of office experience.
Active Adjuster license for Florida (5-20 or 6-20) preferred.
Medical terminology/medical office experience helpful.
Excellent organizational skills.
Detail orientated and motivated.
Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related claims and business software in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Reliable, team player.
Good customer service skills.
