Summary:

The Sanctions Screening Support Staff plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with AML and KYC regulations and sanctions checks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate financial crime risks. This role involves analyzing customer information, verifying identities, and screening against various sanctions lists and watchlists. The Sanctions Screener plays a critical role in identifying and flagginf any potential matches or suspicious activities for further investigation. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of KYC and sanctions regulations, and proficiency in screening tools and databases are essential for success in this role.
Must Have Skills

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in KYC compliance, sanctions screening, or a related field
  • Comprehensive understanding of KYC and sanctions regulations (OFAC)
  • Experience with Transaction Screening and Alert Clearing
  • Familiarity with KYC screening tools and software, such as Fircosoft and LexisNexus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suit Products
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and anomalies in customer data
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Job Description:

  • Compare customer and transaction data against organizations, goods, places, and people under government-issued sanctions or watchlists
  • Conduct comprehensive KYC screenings on new and existing customers to verify identities, assess risk levels, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Review standard profiles that have been flagged and escalated for additional review through QSS real time scans or escalated OFAC Sanctions alerts received on transactional reviews
  • Review incoming wires for possible sanctions violations and conduct necessary investigation to determine if a questioned wire is permissible under OFAC sanctions or if the transaction must be blocked or rejected
  • Gather information from independent research, online tools or directly from the relationship manager or client in order to populate risk profiles for new or existing clients

  • Analyze screening results to identify potential matches and assess the level of risk associated with each match
  • Document findings and maintain detailed records of KYC screenings and sanctions checks
  • Collaborate with other teams, including compliance, legal, and risk management, to escalate and resolve potential KYC or sanctions issues
  • Stay informed about changes to KYC regulations, sanctions requirements, and industry best practices, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to sanctions compliance
  • Prepare detailed risk profiles for complex clients and conducts periodic reviews of client profiles for renewal
  • Evaluate and optimize processes to securely streamline payments while complying to global sanctions laws, regulations, and emerging risks
  • Conduct analyses of financial compliance systems and researching relative OFAC activity to find adequate modernization strategies
  • Prepare comprehensive presentations summarizing key findings including compliance improvements and strategic recommendations, to managers
  • Utilize various specialized softwares and databases for sanctions screening including Fircosoft, optimizing efficiency and ensuring its regulatory adherence in operations
  • Engage in team problem-solving initiatives, conducting thorough research and exercising proper judgment to minimize deficiencies
